Steve Tighe

Steve Tighe is one of Australia’s most compelling speakers on the future and innovation. He is recognised for his thought-provoking observations on today’s society, and his ability to express key insights about the future in an engaging and entertaining fashion.

Steve Tighe is renowned for his clever use of metaphors, images and case studies, taking his audience on a virtual journey into the future, whilst alerting them to the drivers of future change and the implications for their business.

Steve Tighe’s presentations focus on Australia’s evolving values and emerging trends and how these changes are re-shaping every aspect of our lifestyles including commuting, housing, employment, consumption, and the cities we choose to live in!
A practising futurist, Steve is the former Foresight Manager at Foster’s and has worked with some of Australia’s leading companies, looking at the future of their industry and the opportunities for their business. He has a Masters in Strategic Foresight from Swinburne University, and has completed the Oxford Scenarios Programme at Oxford University.

When it comes to thinking about the future, there are two types of organisations - Those that chase sunrises, and those that admire sunsets. If the continuous cycle of day and night is a metaphor for change, then the sunrise represents new opportunities and the sunset represents the status quo of today.

Organisations that chase sunrises acknowledge the inevitability of change and the fact that success is contextual - what worked today is unlikely to work tomorrow. These organisations are proactive and sensitive to signals of change, always alert to the next market opportunity - the next sunrise!

On the other hand, organisations that admire sunsets are too pre-occupied with today to look up and see their changing business landscape. These organisations find themselves unprepared for tomorrow and all of the uncertainty that a new sunrise seems to bring.

To be successful into the future organisations need to develop a culture of chasing sunrises - actively seeking out the impending disruption to their business horizon. And the best tool for developing unique insights into your industry’s future is Strategic Foresight!

With this unique combination of corporate and academic foresight experience, Steve de-mystifies the challenges of the future and provides his audience with genuine tools for improving their business performance.

Steve is an international speaker on the future and tailors each of his presentations to the specific needs of his audience.
