Jeremy Meltzer
Jeremy Meltzer has sailed across the Atlantic, lived in Havana, climbed the Himalayas, run from guerrillas in Colombia and sung his way into the hearts of Miami's Latin community. And this was before he was 21.
At 22, Jeremy decided to dedicate himself to singing professionally. He developed his own show singing to Miami's Hispanic community, where he featured as a romantic singer of Latin Boleros. He performed with Gloria Estefan and Julio Iglesias and sung on some of the great stages of the world. Moving to New York, he performed in Manhattan's legendary Supper Club and appeared in a guest role in Sex and The City.
In late 2003, something started to change. Jeremy began to see the entertainment industry with greater clarity. For Jeremy, this realisation, fuelled by his own experience of many empty promises, signalled that it was time to decide his own fate and manifest his own destiny. He also saw an opportunity. While his family's olive trees were bearing fruit for the first time, there were no Australian olive oils being sold in North America. So, after five years in the US, Jeremy decided to return to Australia, help his father pick their olives, create a brand and build a business.
Now, two years on, Yellingbo Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil is sold throughout hundreds of gourmet stores across the USA and has been featured in national gourmet food magazines. Most recently, Wholefoods Markets, the largest and most successful gourmet retail chain in the US accepted Yellingbo into several key regions as their only Australian olive oil.
Also seeking to use his experience of working on stage as a performer and managing the dynamics of an audience, Jeremy Meltzer has become a trainer of corporate presentation skills, assisting business leaders to become more credible, passionate and influential presenters.
He has worked extensively in this field both in Australia and the US over the last two years and has found it highly rewarding and gratifying to coach and mentor people through the process of presenting in public, often for many a necessary but highly stressful and at times traumatic experience.
Then on December 24, 2004, Jeremy Meltzer experienced first hand the devastating effects of the Boxing Day Tsunami in India. Staying to work in the relief camps with a Sri Lankan friend from Melbourne, they were both overwhelmed by the amount of children who had been suddenly orphaned. With their lives forever changed, upon returning to Australia, they created The Jasmine Foundation, a charity for children in need.
As Director of the Foundation, Jeremy is responsible for organising fund raising projects. Late last year, he wrote a song of his experiences on that fateful day and decided to record it to commemorate the first year anniversary of the tsunami in December 05. Covered extensively in the media and released nationally through JB Hifi, all profits went to The Jasmine Foundation.
