Natalie Bassingthwaighte
Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s first professional engagement was a singer dancer at Australia’s Wonderland, followed by two seasons as lead vocalist and stand up comic at Kaos Comedy Theatre restaurant. Natalie knew she was well on her way when she was chosen from 6000 hopefuls as an original cast member of the Australian Tour of Rent, covering the fabulous Maureen and playing Marks Mum. She then directly joined the cast of Chicago, understudying Roxie and playing the role of June in both Australian and Asia.
Upon her return to Australia, she guest starred in The US series, The Lost World in the role of Raina. Other television appearances include The Peoples Choice Awards, All Saints and Melbourne’s’ Carols By Candelight, Beauty and The Beast, Good Morning Australia and Australian Idol.
In 2001 Natalie made her first appearance in a lead role in a musical, Chang and Eng, playing Adelaide Yates at the Kallang Theatre in Singapore and returned for a second season in Bangkok. Natalie completed her first major role a feature film, as Kelly in the US production, Counter Strike. Directly after, she toured Australia playing the role of Sandy in the national tour of Grease, the musical. In 2002 Natalie portrayed Ariel the female lead in the Musical “Footloose” along side Spencer McLaren at The Capital Theatre in Sydney. Natalie reprised the role of Sandy in GREASE – The Arena Spectacular in 2005 opposite Craig McLachlan, John Farnham, Toby Allen [Human Nature] and Magda Szubanski.
As the lead singer and face of Australian electrorock act the Rogue Traders and former Ramsay Street femme fatale Izzy Hoyland on Neighbours, Natalie has firmly established herself as an international success.
Natalie Bassingthwaighte was nominated for the 2006 Silver and Gold Logie Awards for Most Popular Actress and TV personality. She has also been ARIA Award nominated, is an MTV Award winner and a Dolly Teen Choice Award winner.
In 2006 following her exit from Neighbours, Natalie dedicated herself to The Rogue Traders. The Rogue Traders achievements to-date include: 4 x platinum sales for the bands debut album 'Here Comes the Drums', 4 x Top 20 airplay songs, 2 x Top 54 commercial singles, Number 1 album on itunes, 2 critically acclaimed national tours and seven ARIA Award nominations. Natalie performed at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards for which The Rogue Traders received three nominations and won the award for "Best Dance Music Video". Natalie is also currently the host of the Channel 10 hit ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ She has recently finished filming her first lead role in the US feature film 'Prey'.
Natalie Bassingthwaighte is constantly working as an MC and Host for events as well performing as guest vocalist. Recent clients include Variety, Raymond Weill, Brisbane City Council, The Melbourne Cup Ball, The Brownlow Medal and Fox FM.
