Lisa Curry-Kenny is undoubtedly one of Australia's most popular personalities, with a unique and powerful message about discipline and determination. Best known for her long and successful swimming career, Curry-Kenny competed in three Olympic Games (Moscow 1980, Los Angeles 1984, and Barcelona 1992); three Commonwealth Games (Edmonton 1978, Brisbane 1982, and Auckland 1990); and two World Championships (Berlin 1978 and Ecuador 1982). During her awe-inspiring national and international career over 17 years, Lisa Curry-Kenny collected 24 gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals. From the start of her swimming career at the young age of 15 until she retired from competition, Curry-Kenny was consistently ranked in the top 25 swimmers in the world
Lisa fulfilled another ambition by coaching and competing with her outrigger team, the Riggeroos, to win two World Championships in the 72km Outrigger Canoe race in Hawaii and the first Australian team to do so in the history of the race. Her swimwear company, Hot Curry, won two awards at the prestigious RAQ Fashion Awards, taking out the Swimwear Award as well as the Excellence in Manufacturing Award. Another dream fulfilled.
Lisa Curry Kenny was appointed by the Prime Minster John Howard as the Chairman of the National Australia Day Council and the fist woman to be Chairman. A three-time Olympian and commonwealth Games competitor, Lisa continues to train, learn and compete to be the best she can be.
