Phoebe Fraser (Wynn-Pope)

Phoebe Wynn-Pope's work has taken her around the world. She has travelled to Cambodia, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, France, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Somalia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sudan, Jordan, Yemen, the West Bank, Eritrea, Rwanda and Zaire.
After majoring in International Relations and International Politics at university, Phoebe Wynn-Pope joined CARE Australia in 1989 as the Victorian Co-ordinator, which enabled her to work in Thailand and undertake aid assessment missions to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. She became Program Officer at CARE Australia's head office in Canberra and then became CARE Australia's Director of Public Information and Marketing.

Her varied experiences included distributing supplies to flood victims in Bangladesh, co-ordinating emergency centres for up to 2000 lost and orphaned Rwandan children and leading the CARE International Assessment mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Phoebe's work meant identifying the aid requirements of countries, drawing up project budgets and contracts, establishing aid programs and negotiating with United Nations agencies, foreign governments, tribal elders and clans.
With each challenge she undertook classified as a crisis, Phoebe's management knowledge and expertise encompass areas such as effective management without adequate resources, crisis management and successful negotiation. In 1996 she published A Single Seed, which addresses many of her experiences.
Phoebe presents a different international perspective, one based on years of experience dealing with the reality of life in many countries. As an inspirational speaker her presentations are moving, empowering and relevant—both professionally and personally.
Phoebe Wynn-Pope is currently undertaking a PhD in international law at the University of Melbourne. She is specializing in the area of international war crimes and crimes against humanity.
