John Deeks

John Deeks has been part of Australian media for the past 35 years and with the Seven Network for the past 30. Most people may not know the face but they certainly know the voice. On his 35 years in the media he says, “Hard to believe but true”.

"The saying make your hobby your work and you will never have to work a day in your life is how I feel about my role at the Seven Network .The chance to interact with audiences is very satisfying and the chance to back up the best talent in the country with the likes of Larry Emdur and Andrew O'Keefe is an absolute pleasure ".
Deeksie is the voice of Seven and also the ‘warm up’ guy for the live audience members that come through to the Channel 7 studios to watch their favourite shows like WHEEL OF FORTUNE, DANCING WITH THE STARS and DEAL OR NO DEAL.
As Australia's most experienced "warm up guy" its John Deeks’ job to make sure the audience know what they are in for and how they can participate in the show- making them feel at ease with the television surroundings. John is also involved with the contestants making sure they know the rules of the game and feel confident about what they are about to do.
John usually encourages the audience to cheer, clap and yell out phrases that we all know and love like ‘deal’ or ‘no deal’ and even ‘top dollar’.
John’s role as a warm up guy is just as important as his voice over role really bringing the show to life behind the scenes- live audience programs always require a lot of audience participation.
Often recordings of these shows can take hours to shoot and as many as seven episodes in one seating can be recorded. John is always on hand to answer questions about the show and trivia facts and to keep the energy levels up and going and he can usually handle all types of questions!
Along with Lotto and some of Australia's favourite game shows, John is the longest running team member of any entertainment show in Australian television history ...for the past 21 years Deekisie has been involved with Wheel of Fortune as the voice, contestant and audience motivator. John joined the show in 1984 and helps to celebrate its 25 years this year and 5000th episode in March. He continues in this role having read over 4.5 million words as part of his prize voice overs on the show.
