Michael Diamond

Target shooter Michael Diamond makes a habit of winning gold medals at the highest international level.
The salesman from New South Wales became a household name in 1996 when he shot a perfect 25 score to set a new Olympic record and claim Australia's first Atlanta gold.
He repeated the trick in Sydney four years later with another set of perfect 25s which left him just two shots shy of his 1996 record. Again, the gold was in the bag.
In between Diamond travelled to Kuala Lumpur to claim silver in the pairs trap and gold in the solo event and is a regular top finisher in the sport's World Championship events.
Diamond was always destined to be a sporting shooter. His father managed a Sydney gun club and competed himself.
He began shooting clay targets when just eight years old, a year after being bought his first gun, an air rifle.
