Abbey Holmes's Biography

Abbey Holmes is a household name in the AFLW while her profile in the AFL media is also increasing. Abbey also became a most popular contestant on hit reality TV show, Australia Survivor 2019 where she was a part of the ‘All Star’ team.

Having now accomplished the highest achievement in the AFLW, Holmes is beginning to establish herself in the media both VFL and AFL level with Channel 7. Abbey is also a regular panelist on the Marngrook Football Show where she provides commentary and in-depth analysis on the game as it stands.

Her extensive football career, in conjunction with her highly influential and confident personality, makes her a very favorable figure when reporting. Abbey also hosted her own show, Into the Outback with Abbey Holmes born out of her passion for indigenous community, culture and everything outback Australia! This will be aired worldwide in 2020.

Abbey Holmes’ football career came to light during her time in the Northern Territory Football League where she famously became the first woman to kick 100 goals in a season. As a star forward and midfielder, Holmes led the league’s goal kicking tally on four occasions. Such performances and reputation lead to her Adelaide Crows recruitment ahead of the 2017 inaugural AFLW season.

After a stellar season from the Adelaide Crows, Holmes is now an AFLW premiership player. In the inaugural 2017 season, Holmes played 8 games where she finished in the club’s top 5 in score assists, contested possession, contested marks and hard-ball gets. Abbey’s combination of skill and physicality allowed her to effectively play as a key midfielder/forward. Abbey’s best game of the 2017 season came against the Dockers in round 4 where she had a season-high of 15 disposals, 3 tackles and a goal.
