After a year’s experience at GWN she was back at Channel Seven as a news reporter.
In 1991 Allison was approached by ABC TV News and during the ensuing ten years she took on such roles as executive producer, chief-of-staff and senior reporter, before being asked to read the news one night because of a strike. That led to Allison being “fill in” newsreader for Peter Holland and Verity James.
In 1996 Allison accepted a position with ABC TV in Hobart as weeknight newsreader and a year later returned to ABC TV in Perth as permanent weekend news presenter. During the week Allison reports for ABC TV, and fulfills executive producer or chief-of-staff roles.
Somewhere in between she also had two children.
As well as her Perth newsreading role Allison has also presented the ABC’s Australian National TV News Service – Asia Pacific region.
