Di Fleming's Biography

As an author, public speaker and inspirational leader, Di brings a wealth of experience across education and business innovation. As Executive Director of the Ducere Foundation and President of the Australia Africa Business Council (Vic), Di is passionately committed to working across Africa to develop passionate leaders and learners and prepare young people for business creation rather than job seeking.

 

Di is also and member of the Imaginative Education Research Group, Simon Fraser University, Canada, and the Bastow Advisory Council for the development of principal leadership. She continues to influence change through imagination, design thinking and innovation.

 

Recently, Di has been invited to join the Advisory Group on Australia-Africa by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as an inaugural member. She has also been invited to represent Australia at the Second Aus-Africa Dialogue 2015 in Zambia, sponsored by the Australian Institute of Strategic Policy and the Brenthurst Foundation.

 

Previously, Di was director of the Centre for Excellence in Digital Design at RMIT University as an associate professor, and also an associate professor in Learning at The University of Melbourne, founder and CEO of Digital Harbour Holdings and Principal of Kilvington Grammar.

 

Di was the first educator to achieve the Telstra Victorian Businesswoman of the Year Award and the National Telstra/Australian Industry Award.

 

Di drives the Ducere Foundation vision through its publication of African Children’s Stories, delivery of Peace Education and the development of School Improvement models across twelve African countries.

 

Di articulates the old African Proverb in her philosophy and practice.
