Dr Brent Coker's Biography
Thought provoking and insightful Dr Brent Coker is a marketing futurist who shares his entertaining insight into the science of persuasion triggers, social activation, and what the best brands are doing that you’re probably not.
Dr Brent Coker is an author, entrepreneur, and academic. He has a PhD in electronic commerce (consumer psychology) and has founded several online businesses beginning with Fernland.com in the late 90s and more recently webreep.com (Deloosh) and Cape (co-founder).
His book Going Viral was number 5 on the best Heathrow WH Smith best seller list in the UK, and his research as an academic has been reported around the world, including in Scientific American, CNN, and The New York Times to name a few.
Brent has been teaching Digital Marketing at the University of Melbourne since 2009, and was awarded “best entrepreneurial educator of the year” by the business and higher education round table in 2012. From 2012-2013 wrote a monthly column for Business Solutions magazine. He has consulted to companies including NASA, IBM, Qantas.
What makes Brent different? He is a bridge. He finds nuggets of scientific knowledge in hard-core marketing and psychology journals and applies them to real life scenarios, particularly in the realm of content marketing, brand building, and persuasion. As such, he bridges obscure academic findings with entrepreneurs looking to get an edge.
