Gary Pert's Biography

Following a successful AFL career with the Fitzroy Lions and Collingwood Gary Pert has forged an impressive business career in the media industry and excels in presenting on the values of  excellence, leadership, discipline, relentlessness and community, the importance of goal-setting and feedback, and the power of perfect strategic execution.

Gary Pert is currently the CEO of the Collingwood Football Club, the biggest football club in Australia and the fifth most recognised brand in the country. During his time at the Magpies, Pert has led the club through a period of considerable prosperity on and off the field, highlighted by a Premiership win in the 2010 season.

Coming to the Lexus Centre midway through 2007, Gary was previously Managing Director of Channel Nine Melbourne, and enjoyed a 12 year career with Austereo culminating in four years as General Manager, Melbourne and National Sales Director.

Prior to joining Collingwood as CEO, Pert represented the Magpies 70 times as a player as part of a distinguished 14 year, 233-game career from 1982 to 1995 that included 163 games with the Fitzroy Lions. He was the recipient of the Mitchell Medal in 1989, named All-Australian in 1985, and is a member of the Fitzroy Team of the Century and served as a director of Collingwood in 2006 and 2007.

Gary Pert served as the General Manager for GTV 9 Melbourne of Nine Network Australia Pty. Ltd since December 2006 and was National Sales Director and General Manager of Fox FM, Triple M- Melbourne at Austereo Group Ltd. He served as Group Director for Sales - Leading FM radio at Village Roadshow Ltd and as the Managing Director of Channel Nine Network. As Managing Director of Channel Nine Melbourne, Gary held principal responsibility for one of Australia's largest media organisation's with more than 450 staff.

Gary has an extensive media industry experience. He spent 13 years at Austereo radio network and was its Sales Executive of Melbourne office. He held various roles at AFL and served as its Development Officer from 1989 to 1994. Mr. Pert worked at Network Ten before joining Melbourne's Fox FM. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Pacific Star Network Ltd. since July 1, 2008.
