Joanne Jacobs's Biography

Joanne Jacobs is an award-winning digital strategist and company director.  She advises firms on executive management skills, digital change management and social data analysis.  She is on the Board of Code Club Australia, and she is a Director of word of mouth marketing firm, 1000heads, where she formerly served as Chief Operating Officer.

Joanne is a life-long educator and has published research on strategic use of emergent technologies in business as well as technology in education. She is also an Industry Fellow at University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

People come to Joanne when they have tried to innovate and failed. She helps them to drive innovation mindset, process and behaviour change so they can shift the dial on their programs, empower their teams, excite their customers and feel confident about their future.

Recovery, Risk & Innovation

How should organisations get back in black after the pandemic?  What is it that they need to do to be prepared for the next crisis and how might innovation help them to recover, while mitigating risk? In this presentation Joanne Jacobs takes us through the research on where companies can focus their attention for econonic recovery, and how investment in innovation will actually grow confidence in buyer markets. And she will reveal a toolkit for engaging executive leadership teams and boards in embracing risk in a Covid-changed world.

 

Digital divas: promoting and supporting development of women in tech

Joanne Jacobs was a classical ballet dancer as a teenager, she studied Arts at undergraduate level and she trained as a secondary English teacher. But she has spent most of her career in tech-related roles, she has been a computer programmer and as a board member, she helped build the Code Club Australia program, teaching children to code. Now she is passionate about supporting women who want to move in to tech careers, and to extend women in tech-related roles. In this presentation, Joanne explores the barriers and opportunities for women in tech, and provides insight into how organisations can attract and retain women tech leaders.

 

The Future of Education

Commentators the world over have been talking about the end of schools universities and learnign as we know it. The economics of education meant there is significant change in the way learning is facilitated, but so far at least the insititutions of teaching and learning are hanging in there. In this presentation, Joanne Jacobs paints a world to come for education at all levels - from schools and universities to professional learning - and she introduces us to the teacher or trainer of the future.
