Monica Trapaga's Biography

An outstanding Australian entertainer, Monica Trapaga is a well known and respected performer.  She has been engaging audiences as an artist, MC and speaker showcasing her strengths and diversity to bring a 'wow' to all events.

As one of Australia’s most successful and versatile celebrities, she has ensured she remains a favourite among the pre-school set, while continuing to delight adult audiences across the nation.

Monica enjoyed great success in the 1990’s with “Monica and the Moochers” critically acclaimed album releases “Too Darn Hot” and “Cotton On The Breeze”. In 2003, she independently released “Girl Talk”, recorded by her 5-piece, “Monica Trapaga and the Bachelor Pad”. Monica followed this up with her latest CD “Sugar”, featuring her favourite collection of songs from the 20’s and 30’s, and performed by Australia’s leading jazz musicians Bob Barnard, David Seidel, Peter Locke, Andrew Dickeson, Paul Furniss and David Blenkhorn.

Monica’s love of working with orchestras has seen her work with most of our countries finest. Performances are generally angled toward a family event or as an introduction for children to orchestral music and instruments.

One of Australia’s most popular children’s entertainers, Monica started in the children’s world as a regular presenter on ABC’s “Play School” and continued that role for over 10 years. She is the highly recognisable voice for littlies on the “Banana in Pyjamas” theme song and has released five children’s CD’s including “Monica’s Seaside Adventure”, “I Love the Zoo” and “Monica’s Trip to the Moon” for which she was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Children’s Release in 1999. In 1993 her CD “Monica’s Tea Party” received an APRA award for the Best Children’s CD of 1993, while her first video “Monica’s House” went platinum within three weeks of it’s release.

Monica has toured Australia extensively since 1992, performing her own live show to thousands of excited children across the country. She still performs these fun filled, interactive stage shows whenever requested.

Monica is now gaining recognition as a successful retailer, focusing on vintage furniture and homewares, with her gorgeous store “RECLAIM by Monica Trapaga” in Sydney’s Summer Hill.
