Nathy Gaffney's Biography

Nathy’s topics focus on the powerful impact of first impressions, charisma, and our innate desire for human connection.  She combines 20 years as a professional actor, singer and impersonator, with science and psychology.  In her compelling, dynamic and engaging presentations, Nathy reveals how these very human qualities are the new drivers in the race for business success.

Nathy Gaffney has lived and breathed the truth of this statement her entire life – having changed schools 14 times during her turbulent childhood – she then went on to pursue a more turbulent career as an actor.  Nathy is living proof that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and has transformed the fear and anxiety of being constantly ‘on show’ and publicly judged (and often ridiculed) into powerful life lessons that she shares with her audiences.  Her resilience and strength – that she illustrates with passion and humour is an engaging and compelling combination.  She empowers her audiences by helping them understand that each individual is ‘an instrument of human engagement’, and then encourages them to play.

No stranger to corporate audiences – prior to establishing her corporate training business Pitch Perfect Training four years ago – Nathy was one of Australia’s busiest and most successful corporate entertainers. Wowing audiences for over 15 years with her humour and talent - her many performances included the absolutely fabulous Patsy & Edina, Kath & Kim, The Duelling Opera Divas, Dolly Parton, Pauline Hanson, Le Bond Femmes, and the stunning Super Supremes.

Although she now takes to the stage minus the sequins and wigs – Nathy is a firm believer in the adage “if you’re laughing, you’re learning” – and her keynotes and presentations are always both entertaining and enlightening.

Nathy’s keynotes and workshops are crammed full of highly relevant and easily relateable content – all designed to give her audience insights and techniques that are immediately applicable and sustainable for business.  With her vast experience – she is comfortable with audiences of all demographics and sizes, and from all industries.  She will work with you in advance of your event – tailoring her content to reinforce your core messages, and will target required learning outcomes.

Don’t be surprised to see your conference delegates ‘experimenting’ on each other with the personal impact techniques Nathy teaches in her presentations.  She encourages her audience to see the world as ‘their laboratory’.

A regular on the Nine Network’s Mornings Program – Nathy is also called on to commentate on topics such as workplace etiquette and culture, vocal image, and many more subjects related to corporate and contemporary behaviour and performance.

“Point of (personal) Impact”  - Keynote, Workshop.

  • Themes:  Motivation, Leadership, Sales, Customer Service, Personal Development, Engagement, Confidence. The truth behind the saying “You never get a chance to make a first impression” is revealed.  Our brains have about 100 000 year lag on our environments.  As sophisticated a race as we humans have become – when it comes to sizing one another up – we revert to our hunter gatherer instincts and in just 2 seconds – will form impressions that will be imprinted permanently.  With so much on the line – you’d better make sure your first impression is a good one.  In this keynote presentation – Nathy combines stories from her days as an actor and impersonator with behavioural science and leads the audience towards the empowering place of understanding that we all have control over how we are perceived.

“From Resistance to Resilience” - The Heart of Change – what really lies there and how can we embrace it? - Keynote.

  • Themes: Change Management, Motivation, Innovation, Leadership, Creativity.

"Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."  John F Kennedy

At the heart of business at it’s best lies the seeds of growth.  Yet so many of us – when faced with it – shy away from this most inevitable process of life – change.

In this powerful story driven keynote – Nathy charts her journey from ‘resistance to resilience’.  Change – uncomfortable for most – was thrust upon her from a very young age.  By the age of 6 – she had already clocked up five schools, and that number continue to rise to 14 by the time she graduated high school.

Differing greatly to most ‘change management’ speakers – Nathy uses personal metaphors to connect with the audience, by acknowledging the very human fears we have surrounding change – and through her own very real experience – shares how she at a very young age – became not only resilient to change – but in fact made change her friend.

  • Raise awareness in all team members currently resisting change. Help them to understand why they do, and to embrace the new direction.
  • Enable people to see that change is something they can have a pro-active hand in – rather than simply having it thrust upon them.
