Simon Woolford's Biography

Canberra Raiders Captain with over 180 first grade appearances in the NRL, Canberra Raiders hooker and Captain Simon Woolford is one of the Rugby League’s most accomplished players.

Since making his debut for Canberra in 1994 at just 19 years of age, Simon has gone on to score over 100 points for the Raiders, including 26 tries and one goal. In 2001 he was named Captain of the team. The following year saw Simon represent the Country Origin side and lead Canberra to the 2002 NRL Finals Series.
Considered by many as being one of the best hookers in the game, Simon had an outstanding year for the Raiders in 2003. After leading the team to seven straight wins earlier in the season the Raiders went onto claim a top four finish narrowly going down to the New Zealand Warriors in a semi final thriller.
Off the field Simon’s personality and sharp wit has allowed him to move within the world of reporting featuring on Channel Nine’s Win News and writing a column for the Wagga Daily Advertiser. Simon is also proficient in Public Speaking having been a guest speaker at fundraisers, openings and promotions to speaking in over 1000 interviews for publications such as The Canberra Times, Daily Telegraph, Daily Herald, Rugby League Week and Big League to name just a few. Last year Simon started work with ActewAGL in their marketing and promotions team.
Having signed with Canberra for another two years, Simon is ready to lead the Canberra Raiders to premiership glory in 2004.
