Steve Liebmann's Biography

Steve Liebmann is an experienced facilitator and master of ceremonies who is better known as one of Australia's most respected journalists and broadcasters, with a career spanning more than four decades. During his award-winning career, Steven Liebmann interviewed presidents, prime ministers, royalty, and the world's leading entertainers and sporting starts. As one of Australia's top journalists, he won wide respect for his fairness, impartiality and objectiveness.


A thorough professional, Steve is a superb choice to facilitate business meetings or host conferences, dinners, award presentations or other corporate events.

Steve began his broadcasting career at Radio 2XL in his home town of Cooma NSW while still attending high school. On leaving school he joined 2XL full time until moving to Canberra in 1962 where he joined Radio 2CA and became involved in journalism.

Steve had his first taste of television when he took up a position with Channel 7 as News Editor and on-air presenter in 1967. In 1968 Steve moved to Radio 2UE Sydney as a senior journalist and progressed to Director of News and Public Affairs. Steve then became news presenter and commentator at Radio 2SM Sydney, host of Channel 7's Eleven AM and anchorman for Channel 7's Sydney News. He also hosted the Willesee programme several times as well as writing articles for The Bulletin and Men In Vogue and a number of newspaper columns.

In 1981 Steve joined the Nine Network as the original co-host of the Today show. After five years with the programme he moved to Channel 10 Sydney to present the main evening news bulletin. Steve returned to the Nine Network in 1990 to again co-host the Today show, stepping down in 2005 to pursue other media interests. In 2010, he hosted the morning program on Sydney radio station 2UE and in 2011, took a break from radio to concentrate on corporate MC and hosting opportunities.

Steve's awards include News Presenter of the Year from the Australian Commercial Radio Industry and the Penguin Award for Special Recognition for Contribution to News.
