Testimonials for Tom Nash

"At TEDx Sydney 2019, my favourite speaker was Tom Nash. He was incredibly intelligent, insightful, engaging, witty and funny. So I invited him in to our office to talk about the power of pragmatism, the necessity for self-reflection, and how to manage adversity. Our team really enjoyed hearing Tom’s perspective on life. He’s a natural speaker, and seems able to engage anyone. It was the best talk we’ve had in our company this year, and in fact one of the best speakers we’ve ever had. If you want someone to come in and inspire your team, then I can’t recommend Tom highly enough”

Speaking Topics Include

The Perks of Being a Pirate: Outlining the way that adversity can be used to one’s advantage, The Perks of Being a Pirate pulls back the curtain on how people can exploit their shortcomings to play to their own strengths, using lateral thinking methods to overcome challenges with aplomb. One may never think of hardship in the same way again after considering this fresh mindset.

Technology is your Prosthetic: Just as Tom’s signature ‘Hooks’ are an extension of himself, Nash outlines how our computers and other devices are, today, extensions of ourselves. Tom likes to keep both technologies lightweight and functional. Exploring how humans have transformed with the use of computers, devices and general ’tech’ goes on to inspect the idea that “It’s not the message, it’s the medium”, and how technology seeks to control our lives. Unless of course, we can better leverage technology.

The Illusion of Luck: Dealing with the philosophical concept of luck, and what constitutes good or bad fortune, The Illusion of Luck inspects the internal narratives of those who can take control of their perceptions and become the engineer good luck, allowing opportunity to snowball.

The Casino of Happiness: One of the most important parts of life is taking a long hard look at what really makes us happy. But perhaps we’re looking in all the wrong areas, or even asking the wrong questions. The Casino of Happiness dives deep into the virtues of meaning and facility, while closely analysing the dilemma of human contentment.

The Clock is Ticking: It’s important be be conscious of how precious our time is, and how little we appear to value it. To truly understand the extent to which your self consciousness prohibits you from engaging in opportunities, should lead everyone to take risks they otherwise wouldn’t. We’re merely a blip on the timeline of the universe. Act accordingly.
