Verity James's Biography

 If it’s a conference or Awards emcee you’re looking for to rely on for professionalism and to adapt to any occasion then it’s Verity James who you should be looking for. Verity James has been a broadcaster with the ABC for 25 years both in Canberra for 10 years and in WA and she has presented all manner of radio shows from current affairs to lifestyle to specialist language, political and music shows.

 

Verity also presented ABC Television news for 10 years and been a panel member and reporter for the Logie nominated ABC show “Can We Help” during the last 2 years. Verity has been the voice for a number of documentaries and for 3 years fronted the ABC’s series on the Festival Of Perth.

 

Verity was chosen to host the visits of the Dalai Lama which involved managing 18,000 people. She has recorded voice overs for a variety of events and some commercials, become a funeral celebrant (which she loves!) and currently writes for “The Sunday Times Newspaper’, Spice Magazine and continues on a casual basis in radio for the ABC.

 

Her professionalism and warmth mean that Verity is a very busy person. Verity also has continued much of her charity work with The Australian Red Cross with whom she is an augural Ambassador, Lifeline WA, Vision Cambodia and numerous others.  

 

Verity has a strong interest in cooking and food preparation. She spent three years as Restaurant reviewer for The West Australian, and is now a contributor to West Australia's only food publication, Spice Magazine. As part of her role as a restaurant reviewer for The West Australian she traveled to numerous interstate food festivals and reviewed restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney. She also ran her own fresh produce business specializing in WA products for five years. Verity has hosted numerous celebrity chef evenings with leading chefs including Gabriel Gate and Kylie Kwong.

 

Verity was a panelist on Can We Help You a national ABC TV show which airs at 6.30p.m. on Friday evenings. She was also the inaugural Ambassador for Australian Red Cross and sits on the board of various Western Australian charities.

 

Verity is an extremely polished, articulate and professional master of ceremonies who has hosted numerous government and corporate events including Sir David Brand Tourism Awards, Royal Australian Institute of Architects Awards (W.A.), Sheraton Hotel Wine Industry Awards, Property Council of Australia Awards, National Heart Foundation Ball, 2006 & 2007 Visitor Servicing Association Conferences, Elder Abuse Conference and Breakfast Forum, Tourism Australia Regional Convention and WA Government Risk Management 2008 Conference.
