Camilla Thompson's Biography
Co-Founder Select Wellness, integrative health & wellbeing coach, behaviour change expert and wellbeing strategist
Have you noticed that lately you have less energy? Are your conversations centred around what’s ‘wrong’? Are you more cynical and less motivated? Has self care moved to the bottom of your to do list ? Are you struggling to make decisions and finding yourself easily overwhelmed?
If you’ve answered yes to at least 3 of these questions then you are experiencing symptoms of the current collective rise in hopelessness.
If this is you, you are not alone. After the ongoing pandemic, extreme weather events and economic uncertainty – many of us are finding that resilience and our usual wellbeing tips and tricks are no longer cutting it.
Wellbeing is an integral part of Camilla’s life and has been since a very young age. She had the privilege of being raised by a forward thinking and progressive mother who instilled all her values and beliefs around wellbeing. However, she at times struggled to maintain it when balancing her own corporate career and family.
During Camilla’s career in PR and Media she experienced the ups and downs of being a business owner and falling victim to a near death burnout in leadership roles whilst bringing up two boys. Camilla understands the pressures that come from juggling work and home whilst still trying to perform at your peak and be your best.
Camilla founded The Wellness Coach 14 years ago as one of the original coaches in this space in Australia. She wanted to help other people prevent burnout, achieve better balance and live healthier happier lives through sustained behaviour change solution focussed coaching.
Select Wellness was founded by Camilla and Martine Beaumont 7yrs ago to address the growing need to support employees in the workplace with tailored preventative and proactive interventions to better support their mental health and wellbeing.
Camilla provides boutique EAP services, leader wellbeing programs, wellbeing workshops and coaching services to all employees.
She has been fortunate to work with some of Australia's best places to work including Atlassian, Canva, Microsoft, Woolworths, Optus, Sydney Metro, Westpac, Downer, Wesfarmers, Interactive, Unilever & Stanford Brown.
The science backed Betterment approach to wellbeing created by the team at Select Wellness is the antidote not only to this rise in hopelessness but also to the paralysing epidemic of perfectionism and comparison. For many of us, the pursuit of wellbeing has become just another thing we beat ourselves up about.
Betterment begins with a mindset which combats the three most common reasons people fail in their attempts to improve their wellbeing. The focus then shifts to equipping you with the tools that we know work to help you live, feel, think, work, connect and lead better.
With her infectious energy and engaging blend of humour, science & practical tools, Camilla Thompson will share her own burnout story, and how to use the Betterment approach to wellbeing to start feeling better than you do.

I am Superwoman is for any woman who has ever felt this way.
It's for women who do too much, rushing from one thing to another and pushing themselves to their limit. It's for women who are overachievers, survivors, multi-taskers and have a constant need to prove themselves.

For anyone who feels like they’re constantly striving to ‘live their best life’ and ‘be their best self’, this keynote keeps wellbeing real.

Camilla will dig into…
How comparing yourself to others or trying to be that perfect version of yourself is a recipe for exhaustion, disappointment and self criticism.
Why, for many of us, wellbeing has become just another overwhelming task that we beat ourselves up for not achieving.
How the Betterment approach to wellbeing encourages you to know and treat yourself better and empowers hope.
The Betterment mindset workshop
The ‘Betterment Mindset’ talk or workshop supports participants to cultivate a mindset that has been clinically proven to combat the 3 most common reasons people fail in their attempts to improve their wellbeing.
This session is for anyone who struggles with improving their wellbeing or whose wellbeing exterior is a long way from how they feel on the inside. It is also invaluable for leaders who are struggling to shift the dial on their team’s wellbeing.
What it’s about....
Camilla's experience working with 1000s of employees is that all the wellbeing tips, tricks and good intentions in the world won’t work if you don’t get your mindset right first.
Using a combination of science, stories, case studies and easy to implement tools the Betterment Mindset workshop helps employees who:
Struggle to prioritise their wellbeing or are unaware of what it is they need to change.
Are prone to perfectionism and overly harsh on themselves.
Feel hopeless, burnt out, cynical or lacking in motivation when they think about improving their wellbeing.
Participants will leave with the skills to:
Know what to do in challenging times when resilience just isn’t enough.
Start prioritising their own self care and wellbeing.
Get the balance right between caring for others and caring for self.
Drop the need for perfectionism, quiet the inner critic and minimise self doubt.
Stop comparing themselves to others.
Reframe uncertainty as holding just as much potential for positive as negative outcomes.
Restore their hope and plan pathways for a better future.
Cultivate the Betterment Mindset in the people around them and the people they lead.
Connect better, live better, work better, think better, feel better, lead better workshops
Empowering women to shift from surviving to thriving
