Speaking Topics Include
#TRENDS - Shift 2023
Our customers, clients, communities and consumers are not who they were just ten years ago… or even one year ago. The past decade has seen social and commercial trends that have fundamentally shifted who we think we are, how we spend our time, the brands we admire, who we turn to for advice, the information that we trust and also how we shop and what we buy.
This can be incredibly challenging. Anyone trying to navigate the changing tides in their customer base has their work cut out for them. However, to succeed in these new marketplaces and to connect with these new consumers, we will all need to gather some fresh insights and to develop some new strategic skills.
In this enlightening and information rich presentation, Dan Gregory will help you to:
Unpack recent consumer, societal, institutional & market trends and how they affect your business, your category and your innovation imperatives
Gain an understanding of choice architecture & how decision psychology shapes whether consumers buy or buy in
Master the skill of aligning value with values and how this lead to buy in and loyalty
#CULTURE - Cultures of the Willing
Every year, Gallup conducts a Global Workforce Engagement study and almost every year it gets a little worse. Disengagement currently sits at slightly more than 50% of the workforce with an additional 20% being actively disengaged. In other words, roughly 70% of the workforce doesn’t care about their jobs or actually hates the work they do and the organisation they work for.
What makes this study even more important, is the fact that it shows engaged workforces are more productive, more profitable and generate customer satisfaction ratings 20-40% above the norm. This makes your capacity to build a culture around a tangible purpose and to create an identity people want to be associated with the most important leadership capability of the 21st Century.
In this exciting and thought provoking presentation, Dan Gregory will help you:
Learn how to build a cultural identity that is inspiring, self-regulating, self-sustaining and self-correcting
Develop an understanding of cultural “ID-ology” (a philosophy based in Identity Psychology) & how this allows purpose to go deeper than just WHY
Explore the practice of “story-doing,” where values and cultural beliefs are codified as exemplar behaviours shared in pass-on-able stories.
#INFLUENCE - The Elements of Influence
Truthfully, influence is one of those words that carries some “emotional baggage.”
We often associate it with the Machiavellian, with manipulative persuasion and deception or one person exerting control or supremacy over another individual or group. But the truth is, influence is critical to success in almost every aspect of life - more than intelligence, or skill or talent or even privilege. What’s more, those who understand the Elements of Influence are those that lead and ultimately succeed in life.
Of course, few of us are ever educated in the Elements of Influence or in what triggers trust, captivates the imagination or engages the enthusiasm of a company or community. So let’s correct that omission now.
In this fascinating and revealing presentation, Dan Gregory will help you to:
Discover the psychological triggers that create engagement, increase trust and build loyalty
Identify the factors that make customers buy and teams buy in
Learn simple tools and frames for how to be more engaging in your written and spoken communication, more charismatic in your leadership and more effective in your marketing and sales
#PERFORMANCE - Beyond Strengths & Weaknesses
Traditionally, whether we’ve been trying to have a positive impact on our own performance, or else lift the output of our teams, most performance strategies have leaned pretty heavily on motivation and discipline - the rev up or the beat up! Now, motivation and discipline are both useful strategies, but they typically provide only a short term win. What we now know from psychological researchers, such as the “situationists” and “behavioural economists," is that design beats discipline for long term performance.
If we want to drive long term behaviour change, we need to look beyond character and also consider context. In other words, we need to create environments, habits, systems and processes that have a bias towards success, and just as importantly, a bias away from failure.
In this highly practical and occasionally hilarious presentation, Dan Gregory will help you to:
Understand how your Default Filters & Frames™ shape the way make meaning & solve problems
Identify the vulnerabilities in your Strengths & opportunities in your Weaknesses
Discover why design (and a nudge here and there) beats discipline for long term performance and behaviour change
