Natalie Barr's Biography
Over the years Natalie Barr has become a much loved and trusted newsreader for Channel 7’s Sunrise program. Having worked both Nationally and Internationally, Natalie has been able to cover some of the biggest stories. Natalie is a great MC and as a speaker she shares her story on work life balance and family.
Natalie studied journalism at Curtin University and later began her career in television at the Golden West Network in Kalgoorlie.
From there, Natalie went to Perth, working on breakfast radio and freelancing for the Nine Network. Natalie then worked for several years in Los Angeles at stations KABC, KTLA and KCOP. She won a Golden Mic for Best Newscast Writing in 1994 and a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award nomination for her work on KCOP's coverage of the OJ Simpson car chase.
It was on her return to Australia that Natalie started at Channel 7 as an on-the-road reporter. For the next seven years Natalie covered some of the biggest stories in the country.
In 2002, Natalie Barr became the Sunrise news presenter. She was involved in major live broadcasts like Cyclone Larry, the Beaconsfield rescue and the death of Pope John Paul 2 and Steve Irwin.
In July 2008, she began presenting Seven Early News alongside Mark Beretta at 5.30am, which leads into Sunrise where she is still the news presenter. Natalie is also the regular fill in for Samantha Armytage on Sunrise.
In January 2009, Natalie presented live from Washington DC for Sunrise for the inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States. She has also co-hosted Carols in the Domain in years 2011 and 2012.
When not at work Natalie spends her time with her husband and two children.
