Nick Green is one of Australia's Olympic heroes and was a member of the rowing greats, the Oarsome Foursome. His achievements have been recognised with an Order of Australia and an Australian Sports Medal The Oarsome Foursome, together and individually, won nearly every honour and competition in rowing, including the World Championships, numerous National titles, and two Olympic Gold Medals.
Nick is an accomplished leader with a wealth of experience spanning various sectors including global corporations, national sporting organisations, public sector, and not-for-profit organisations. He has held senior roles in sport and commercial and risk management services, showcasing his expertise in navigating complex environments.
Currently serving as a Commissioner of the Australian Sports Commission and a Director of VicHealth, his contributions extend to key committees such as Finance, Audit, Risk, and the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee.
Nick's extensive leadership portfolio includes directorial positions in prominent sporting bodies including the Australian Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Australia, Victorian Olympic Council, and the Victorian Institute of Sport. He has also been a director of Leadership Victoria, contributing significantly to leadership development initiatives.
As a dual Olympian in rowing, Nick has had a remarkable athletic career highlighted by multiple Olympic and world championship victories. With a presence across nine Olympic Games, both Summer and Winter, Nick's journey has transcended from athlete to team leader, showcasing his versatility and enduring passion for the Olympic movement.
Nick's leadership extends beyond the field of play. He has served in a senior Director role with an global insurance broker, the CEO of a National Sporting Organisation (Cycling) and his appointment as the Chef de Mission for the 2012 Australian Olympic Team and the 2010 Youth Olympic Team, demonstrating his ability to lead with vision and purpose.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to sport, Nick has been honoured with the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and the post-nominal designation from the World Olympian Association (OLY). He has been inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and awarded life memberships by the Victorian Olympic Council and Rowing Australia.
A fellow of Leadership Victoria (2004), Nick's commitment to continuous learning is evident through his academic pursuits at VCAH Burnley (now Melbourne University) and the Melbourne Business School, where he explored leadership studies. Outside his professional endeavours, Nick is a member of the Nulla Vale Landcare group and the Melbourne University Boat Club.
