Guy Leech's Biography
Longevity – Uncovering the Secrets Of Living A Longer Life with Guy Leech.
Guy Leech dominated the longer ironman races over his 15-year career, never being beaten in any event lasting more than 2 hrs. A feat that no other ironman has replicated.
In front of 120,000 spectators on a stifling hot day on the Gold Coast in 1984 an unknown Manly teenager rose against the odds & cemented his name in Australia’s sporting history by winning the inaugural Coolangatta Gold.
The first professional Ironman race in the world that was borne out of a movie with the same name, the race covered the Gold Coast coastline from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta & back spanning 46km. One hundred of the fittest surf athletes from around the world competed for the chance to make history & pick up $20,000 worth of gold bullion.
Guy also won the World Ironman Championships in Vancouver, Canada, in 1986 and the World Ocean Paddling Championship in Hawaii in 1994. In 2006 Guy also won Australian Celebrity Survivor Vanuatu, only the second edition of Australian Survivor.
Retiring in 1996, Guy’s love of fitness became his next focus. Over the next 15 years, Guy built a business from his name and way of life, that saw his brand signature clothing range sold in department stores across Australia and signature sporting equipment sold in leading outdoor retail stores (Anaconda etc.)
At the same time, Guy began training some of the world’s biggest names. International super brands including Madonna and George Clooney looked to Guy for the secrets of high performance and physical transformation.
During this time, he also worked with athletes including 7 x World Surfing Champion Layne Beachley & Olympic Gold Medallist Kerri Pottharst helping them reach their goals.
This period strengthened his belief in the formula of winning, which he learnt all those years ago in the pool! Guy was involved with five of Layne’s seven world title wins.
Since turning 60 in 2024 Guy is as passionate as ever about sharing his insight into longevity & helping to create the longest health-span for people wanting to live a long & happy life.
In the last decade, Guy has become a leading figure in health and fitness, setting four Guinness World Records with events that bring the community together for exercise and charity.
His efforts include hosting the largest fitness circuit class in Melbourne, drawing over 2,000 participants and demonstrating his knack for inspiring mass participation and fostering a sense of unity around wellness.
One standout event was a core strength class that gained extra attention with Arnold Schwarzenegger participating, adding star power and highlighting the importance of fitness across different sectors of society.
Guy also achieved records with the largest resistance band class and a boxing fitness event, proving that fitness is accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels.
These events weren’t just about setting records; they were opportunities to raise funds for causes like The Melanoma Institute, showing Guy’s dedication to community welfare and the power of fitness to bring about positive change.
Through these initiatives, Guy aimed to build a healthier nation, using fitness as a platform for philanthropy, social connection, and personal well-being.
Following the tragic death of one of Guy’s best mates he thew his energy into making a difference to those suffering a heart attack. In 2016, former Channel nine sport commentator Charles Stewart (known as “Chucky”) suffered a heart incident at the end of a class. Guy instinctively began CPR while others called 000. It took ten minutes for the ambulance to arrive and they quickly took over, transporting Chucky to the hospital. Chucky fought for life in hospital before passing away 3 days later. In the weeks following, Guy learned that had he had a life-saving defibrillator on hand, Chucky would have had more than a 70% chance of surviving.
Once he came to grips with losing one of his closest friends, he made the decision to dedicate his life to heart health and saving lives. He launched Heart180 in 2017 a national based defibrillator company that educates & distributes the world’s leading defibrillators.
Heart180 is now the no.1 distributor in Aust supplying thousands of these life-saving devices to the community. One of their devices saves a life every 6 weeks
Guy Leech’s profile as a highly sought-after corporate speaker in Australia, especially in the domains of health and longevity, motivation, and high performance, showcases his expertise in delivering impactful and engaging content to a wide array of audiences.
