Testimonials for Cate Campbell OAM
"It was an absolute pleasure having Cate join us. It was a privilege to hear her speak of her journey to the top. Her will-power and unwavering determination in the face of adversity, coupled with her humble nature, make her a true champion in my eyes. Thank you for a great afternoon."
Executive Manager, Hyland
For me, Cate is as classy and respectful as any athlete I have ever come across with a genuine endearing and caring nature that you cant help but respect and admire her for. A steely determination and incredible internal drive, Cate is the ultimate team player in what can be an extremely selfish sport. What stands out most though is this vulnerability that you rarely see these days, it makes her real and relatable. The perfect combination: one of the worlds best athletes and human beings all in one!
– Daniel Kowalski Olympian Services Manager - Australian Olympic Committee
Cate Campbell is the most talented, accomplished and yet humble swimmer whom I have had the privilege of coaching for the past 18 years. Watching her sprint is like seeing art in motion and something I never tire from.

Cate Campbell OAM's Biography
One of Australia’s most inspirational Olympic swimming legends -
The Queen of Australian swimming, 5 time Olympic medalist, 4 time world champion
Cate Campbell OAM, a cornerstone of Australian swimming, has dominated the international stage for nearly a decade as an Olympic, Commonwealth, and World Champion.
Born in Malawai, Cate Campbell began learning to swim in Lake Malawi by her former synchronised swimmer mother Jenny. After moving to Australia in 2001, Cate and her sister Bronte joined the local swimming club in Indooroopilly, Brisbane. It was here that she would fall in love with competitive swimming, quickly rising the ranks to be a winning gold medallist at the Australian Age Campionships at just 13 years old.
By 16, she had broken the Australian & Commonwealth 50m Freestyle records, earning herself a spot in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. With remarkable maturity and poise on the biggest stage in world, Cate went home with Bronze medals in the 50m Freestyle and 4 x 100m Freestyle events. A year later, she followed up with another Bronze at the 2009 World Championships.
In the 2012 London Olympics, Cate solidified her talent as an Olympic champion when she took part in Australia’s successful 4 x 100m Freestyle team. In 2013, she took home Gold in the 100m Freestyle and three additional Silver medals, making her a World Champion. To complete the trio, Cate became a Commonwealth Champion in 2014 with three Gold medals.
Throughout her career, Cate has continued to demonstrate her love and talent for the sport, with a second World Championship Gold medal and a new 100m Freestyle Short-Course World Record in 2015. She also has a second Olympic Gold from the 2016 Rio Olympics, three more Gold medals in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and five more medals (two Gold) in the 2019 World Championships. Cate has also won the 2019 FINA Swimming World Cup with honours in the women’s ranking, as well as helped the London Roar top their group in the inaugural International Swimming League in the same year.
In the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Cate was announced as the Australian Flag Bearer, and even came away with a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle and a stellar result in her two relay teams. In 2021, Cate qualified to swim at her fourth Olympics, making her one of three elite Australian swimmers to compete at four Olympics. After four Olympic Games, Cate sits amongst the greatest swimmer to represent Australia with 8 medals to her name.
Currently studying a Bachelor of Communications, Cate is interested in combining her love of sport and media. She is a regular contributor for opinion columns in Brisbane Courier-Mail, and has co-authored a book, ‘Sister Secrets: Life Lessons from the Pool to the Podium’, with her sister Bronte.
Cate is also an ambassador for the Melanoma Institute Australia, after being diagnosed with stage one Melanoma. As part of the ‘Game on Mole’ public awareness campaign, Cate advocates for sun safety and regular check-ups.
An outdoors person with a love of nature, Cate finds herself scuba diving, hiking and on adventures in every spare moment.
