Testimonials for Abbey Holmes
Abbey was brilliant! Everyone loved her and thought her story was so interesting. One colleague even said to me today that Abbey was one of the best presentations she’s heard, and because of this, our IWD event was one of the best events that CPVV has conducted. So, thank you so much to you and Abbey

Abbey was amazing, she was so engaging, she was very happy to answer any questions, have photos and was a wonderful speaker for our day! She had very relevant examples that tied in beautifully to the theme (Building a Coaching Culture), had a wonderful sense of humour, was down to earth, relaxed, and built very good rapport with everyone she spoke to - I would highly recommend booking Abbey for any future speaking appointment.

Abbey was fantastic and the favourite speaker from the day. We have received wonderful feedback from attendees that were inspired by Abbey's story and her ability to keep going after so many 'no's'. Abbey brought amazing energy and we're so pleased she was able to be there with us!

Abbey Holmes's Biography
7AFL Commentator | AFLW Premiership Player | Television Presenter
Abbey Holmes is one Australia’s preeminent broadcasters. Having a love for all things sport, adventure and travel, she combines all of these passions in her media work.
Originally from South Australia, but having lived all over the country over the last 10 years, including Darwin – the multitalented sports star has always overachieved from a young age. She represented Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory in Netball, but really found her niche when she began playing football competitively in the NTFL.
Abbey was first launched into the media spotlight after becoming the first female Australian Rules Footballer to kick 100 goals in an established women’s league season. This is an achievement that Abbey is very proud of, however she is prouder of the attention and interest that this achievement bought to women’s football around the country at a time of need.
A lifelong dream came true for Abbey in October 2016, when she was drafted to the Adelaide Football Club for the inaugural AFLW Competition in 2017 where the girls went on to create history by winning the premiership in the first year of competition.
With a passion for sports broadcasting, Abbey has her home with Channel 7 in their AFL and AFLW Commentary Team. Her Channel 7 role sees her on the boundary, interviewing players in the heart of the action and hosting. Abbey also enjoys a role in radio with Triple M Footy and co hosts the Footy Talk Podcast.
Abbey was also be a key member of the Channel 7 broadcast team where she co-hosted the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She has also worked in presenting roles in travel – on Seven’s travel show, Discover, and Melbourne Weekender.
Abbey’s drive for adventure and her competitive spirit has seen her appear in two series of Australia Survivor on Network 10. In 2019, Abbey lasted 46 days in the Fijian Jungle to finish 5th and returned in February 2020 for Season 5 – All Stars. In 2023, she also starred in SAS Australia and tackled the Jordan desert in a grueling series of challenges.
Abbey is also passionate about travel and tourism and showcases everything that Australia has to offer to local and international markets through various projects. She is a ‘Friend of Tourism Australia’ and also collaborates with local, State and National Tourism bodies to bring travel to life via media projects, social media campaigns and via her own travel marketing platform – Backyard Bandits. She also has a passion for indigenous education and culture.
In 2024, Abbey was invited to be part of the AFL’s All-Australian Selection Panel. The panel selects the AFL All-Australian squad and team, the 2024 Virgin Mark of the Year, the 2024 NAB AFL Goal of the Year, and the Ron Evans medal for the 2024 AFL Rising Star Award. The 10 person panel is made up of the AFL’s CEO, the AFL’s Executive GM, past players and now Abbey.
