David Baggs's Biography
David Baggs is a multi-award winning architect, sustainability, healthy and eco-products, Life Cycle Analysis and EPD expert with almost 40 years’ experience. He is CEO and Program Director of Global GreenTag Pty Ltd and co-founder of the world leading Global GreenTagCertTM Product Certification, EPD and PhD Programs.
David was sustainability, eco-materials and energy consultant for 10 of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Green Games venues, and has delivered International, National, State and Local Government Sustainability Policy having been responsible for the delivery of the Estidama Green Building Rating Tool for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and a number of Australian Governments and been sustainability consultant to over 40,000 apartments throughout Australia.
David has been voted one of Australia’s Top 50 (2009-10) and one of the Top 100 Most Influential Individuals in Environmental Issues (2011-14) in a 6 Continent poll run by ABCCarbon.com as well as one of the Top 50 Australian Sustainable Building Leaders 2012-14 by YourFutureHome.com.au readers.
He is a qualified Exemplar Global Lead Auditor, and regularly visits manufacturing plants to assess their environmental, health and ethical employment standards. He is also a past President and Vice President of the Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society (ALCAS).
David has been a keynote and feature speaker at hundreds of International and National events in countries as diverse as China, India, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, East Timor, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
David has extensive visual and print media experience, educator and expert columnist to online magazine Sourceable.com and is co-author of numerous books on sustainability. He was a contributing editor of the book 'The Healthy House', and has expertise to comment on healthy and sustainable environments, design and products in all sectors, including toxic ingredients and their effects on health and was previously a regular newspaper columnist on environmental matters.
