Speaking Topics Include
The Science of Mindfulness - Mindfulness means being fully engaged in what we are doing, and being self-aware. Research shows it improves brain functioning, which in turn leads to better performance and resilience.
This experiential keynote explores practical tips for increasing self-awareness, managing emotions and stress, improving performance and making digital technology work for, rather than against, us.
Mindful Learning - Research from Harvard shows that half the time we are awake, we aren't paying attention to what we are doing. This has obvious implications in the classroom – for both teachers and students alike. Add to this the demands of modern education – standardised testing, limited resources and new technology – and we have a recipe for educational disaster. Perhaps it is no wonder educational standards in Australia have been steadily slipping over the past few decades.
This experiential keynote explores the science behind mindfulness and how it can instantly help improve learning. It outlines simple, practical things educators can do to create optimum learning environments, while simultaneously being more productive and taking care of their own wellbeing.
Sleep is Life - Good sleep is a fundamental part of a healthy, productive life. Sadly, most people aren't getting enough. Stress, overthinking and digital technology are making it increasingly hard to get to sleep, resulting in decreased productivity as well as a range of negative effects for our physical and mental health.
This experiential keynote outlines the science of sleep and provides practical solutions for getting to sleep easier and waking up refreshed.
Managing Digital Technology - Digital technology has added a huge amount of value to our lives. Being able to book movie tickets, navigate to the cinema and then tell people all around the globe what we thought of the movie just makes life cooler. But it comes with a cost. We are seeing soaring rates of insomnia, stress, depression and reduced productivity – much of which can be attributed to using technology badly.
This keynote outlines simple, effective strategies we can implement immediately to make technology work for us, rather than against us. It explores the underlying science and recent trends in effective use of technology.
Note: All keynotes can also be offered as half- and full-workshops.
