Jason ‘Richo’ Richardson's Biography
Jason Richardson has been involved in sport for over 20 years, firstly as an elite runner, then as a broadcaster on radio and TV with media organisations including Seven Network, Racing.Com and Radio SEN.
Although horse racing has been Jason’s key focus, he is also a presenter and commentator on an array of other sports for Seven including the Big Bash League and WBBL, the Olympic Games of 2016 and 2020, the 2017 FINA World Championships, the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, and the annual Stawell Gift Carnival.
With a sporting career boasting a win in the iconic Stawell Gift in 1993, Jason is now a highly sought-after host of corporate events throughout Australia – particularly those with a racing or sporting theme.
His sports media career started in 2000, with Channel 10, initially as guest reporter on Sydney 2000 Olympics, then as host / reporter with Inside Sport TV. This lead into being a foundation host of new 24 hour Melbourne Sports Radio station SEN-1116 in 2003, and has worked extensively on SEN hosting all the key daily programs, plus their feature coverage of AFL Football, Spring Racing Carnival, Track & Field, Cricket etc..
Jason’s love of thoroughbred racing started in his very early childhood, through his family’s involvement as Trainers & Jockeys in Tasmania, highlighted by Sunny Lane running in the Melbourne Cup before placing in a Hong Kong Vase, owned by his uncle, John Best.
Currently Jason hosts live coverage of horse racing meetings nationally on Channel 7 for Carnivals and around Victoria throughout the year on Racing.com, which can be seen on Foxtel #529 plus the highly rated weekly preview program "Get On" on Thursday evenings.
Jason is an articulate, professional, intelligent and credible addition to any event and for the most demanding MC and expert panel roles.
