2016 Youngest Pilot to Fly Solo Around the World

Lachie Smart is a world record pilot, renowned Australian speaker on emerging talent development, and chief executive of a highly competitive MedTech company, uniquely experienced to educate emerging talent on exceptional strategies to high performance and leadership.

In 2016, Lachie Smart created history when the young Australian, at just 18 years of age became the youngest person to fly solo around the world, in a single engine aircraft. The journey took nearly 2 and a half years to plan, 54 days to fly and nearly half a million dollars in fundraised cash and services. Overcoming threats of arrest, huge storms and challenging flight conditions, Lachie reached millions around the world and began redefining the capabilities of today's generation.

Since the world flight, Lachie’s passion has not changed: The pursuit of a world where being young isn’t a reason to lower your goalposts, but rather a reason to raise them. Where the future leaders aren’t just allowed to cultivate ideas but are equipped to do so.

In 2018, Lachie moved to the USA to train as a professional speaker and entertainer. Later that year, after completing training with some of the world’s top entertainers, Lachie moved back to Australia and continued speaking for corporate and education audiences on the methods to develop and manage their emerging leaders.

Lachie is also the chief executive of Smartline Medical. An innovative manufacturer of high-tech medical equipment for endoscopy and sterilising departments within health facilities. Lachie guided the company through the Covid pandemic utilising his tuned leadership approach and the ability to quickly triage and overcome adversity, skills gained during the solo circumnavigation.
