Testimonials for Meg Coffey
Meg is a highly professional and dynamic influencer in the Perth market. Meg continues to succeed and grow her business through hard work, dedication and passion for the industry.
Former State Manager WA, Etihad Airways
It’s not unusual for her workshops to fill within days of being open, and, although it is definitely a ‘hot’ topic, word has spread that these are not to be missed workshops. Meg incorporates her infectious ‘Texstralian’ enthusiasm with her knowledge of the industry to make the workshops very entertaining and informative. The examples she uses are real life, and her knowledge on the platforms is meticulously up to date, which is so critical in this ever-changing space and gives us the confidence to know that our members are receiving the right information.

Meg Coffey not only “knows her stuff” on social media, she can communicate it as well. She has a lovely engaging style that makes her audience feel like they are sharing something special. They don’t feel like they are being lectured to or made to feel inferior. While her knowledge of social media may be far superior to that of her audience, they are never made to feel that.

Meg Coffey's Biography
Nearly 15 years ago Managing Director of Coffey & Tea, ‘Texan’ Meg Coffey, packed in the globe-trotting, hospitality life to grow her distinctive brand of marketing and business development in the Australian city that first stole her heart, Perth.
Of course, her experience ‘taste-testing’ Australia goes a long way to informing her hard-won reputation as a heavy hitter in the corporate hospitality and marketing worlds, as well as being one of the country’s most sought after public speakers and media commentators.
Today she is not only one of Perth’s leading marketing managers, but also the state’s digital darling; working to equip West Australian businesses with the skills needed to be competitive in today’s digital economy.
Meg’s skill for communication, see: ‘gift of the gab’, has also led to her public speaking roles; she has been highly sought after to speak to national and international audiences at workshops, seminars, and conventions.
‘Texan Meg’ (as she is affectionately known) also holds a regular, fortnightly spot on 6PR with Tony McManus, looking at the latest and greatest trends and developments in the digital world.
Meg is the founder of Social Media Perth (#SMPerth), the city’s ‘go-to source for the latest news in the digital space and a community for social media and digital marketers.’
Meg has worked with some of the best venues in Perth; she helped establish successful inner city bar and restaurant The George, organised the exceptional grand opening of The Byrneleigh, and as marketing manager, launched the prestigious Terrace Hotel, earning the event Sunday Times’ “Party of the Year”. In 2011 she was instrumental in guiding WA’s portion of the HostPlus Cook for Your Career national campaign – a model which is still used today.
With Meg at the marketing helm, venues she has worked with have won numerous awards and accolades, including AHA Awards for Excellence Best Marketed Tavern, a place in Gourmet Traveller magazine’s guide to Australia’s best wine lists and 2013 Hottest Hotel in Oceania. The Terrace Hotel also won Hotel Social Media Awards Best Integrated Digital Campaign for Meg’s innovative #SocMedSleepover, inviting 17 guests to experience the hotel first hand and document it on various social channels.
Although her heart belongs to the hospitality and tourism sector, Meg’s experience spans a broad selection of industries and applications. Meg was shortlisted in the 2014 WAToday Entrepreneur & Innovator Awards for the Curtin Growth Entrepreneur Award. She was voted one of Perth’s 100 Most Influential in the Nifnex Awards. She was also a finalist for both Coffey & Tea and Social Media Perth in the 23rd Belmont & Western Australian Small Business Awards 2016. She was named as one of Inside Business’ 2017 Top 50 Australian Small Business Leaders.
Meg has been asked to judge submissions for numerous programs including the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards and Property Council of Australia Retail Awards. In early 2016 she completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a testament to her commitment to professional development.
She served as the PR & Communications Director for Skal International’s Perth Chapter from 2012-2015 and was a Dame de la Chaîne in La Chaîne des Rôtisseur from 2012-2016. She has also served as the Marketing & Communications Manager for Leederville Connect and was a WA State Advisory Councillor for the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI WASAC).
Coffey & Tea is both Meg’s dream and her passion. From helping businesses build strong, successful social media and marketing channels to providing tailored expert training, workshops and seminars and developing bespoke strategic solutions, Meg loves nothing more than helping tourism, hospitality and lifestyle brands grow and thrive in the dynamic and exciting state of WA.
